Is Cyprus Student Spouse Dependent Visa Possible?

Unfortunately, No.
You can’t bring your spouse on a dependent visa if you are a student in Cyprus. It would be great if you could, but Cyprus doesn’t allow dependent visas for international students.

When you go to the agents, they might tell you that you can bring your spouse with you to Cyprus on a dependent visa.

Don’t trust them.

Agents will say various things, and most of them lie because they aren’t going to get any commission if they tell you the full truth.

Read here in detail about the things agents say about Cyprus that you mustn’t trust blindly.

The question is, do you have to leave your partner in your country and come to Cyprus alone on a student visa?

No, you don’t have to leave them there. If you want, you can bring them to Cyprus with you. Nobody wants to get separated from their loved ones.

Today in this article, I will tell you about some ways how you could bring your partner with you to Cyprus.

Bring your spouse on a student visa

Both of you can apply for a student visa and come to Cyprus together. If you don’t want that, you can apply for yourself, come to Cyprus, get settled and bring your partner later.

If you apply together, your agent might ask you to pay a lot of money because he would want a commission from two people.

But, if you first come to Cyprus, you can later bring your partner to you without going to an agent. It would be less expensive that way.

You would already be settled, so it would be easier for your spouse when they come.

If your spouse has a good academic background, then you can bring them on a student visa, but if they haven’t completed their higher secondary education, a student visa mightn’t be applicable for them. In that case, you can bring your spouse on a working visa.

You can bring your partner on a working visa

Suppose your wife doesn’t get a student visa, or let’s say you can’t afford to bring her on a student visa. What do you do then?

In that case, your wife can come to Cyprus on a working visa.

Housemaid Visa

Are you familiar with the term “Housemaid”?

If you don’t know, let me tell you. A housemaid is someone who is employed to do household chores.

You can bring your wife on a housemaid visa.

Here is how you do that.

  • Firstly, you will have to find an employer. Meaning, you will need someone to employ your wife. If you have made friends with some Cypriot people, they can help you with that.
  • The employer has to file an application in the Labor Office for wanting a housemaid.
  • When the application gets approved, they can provide your wife with a visa.
  • When she gets the visa, she can come to Cyprus.

Note:
It is not as easy as it sounds. It’s a lengthy process and can take up to 3 months.
It’s not just going to the labor office and filling out a form. It’s much more than that. Also, there is no guarantee on the visa.

Here are some of the things that you will have to keep in mind before applying for this visa.

Every month your wife or her employer has to pay the Social Insurance Charge, which will be around 110 Euro. Now, unless they really hire her as a housemaid, you will have to pay the social insurance from your pocket.

A housemaid is usually bound to stay in the employer’s house. If your room/flat is nearby the employer’s house, your wife can come and live with you. But, if it’s far, you will have to find a room nearby the employer’s home.

Other jobs

If your wife is experienced in some field, she can apply for a job in that field related companies.

The process is similar to the housemaid visa. If those companies can employ foreign people, you can try getting her a working visa from that company.

It’s all about public relations and connection. If you are well-connected with high-profile people, you can definitely bring your wife with you.

But if you don’t know anyone who could help you, you mightn’t succeed.

Conclusion

Do you think you can bring your wife on a student visa or any sort of working visa?

If you can, it’s great. If you cannot, then you might have to stay separated from your spouse for a while.

Someday in the future, Cyprus might change rules and make it easier for international students to bring their spouses on a dependent visa.

But we never know.

If you think you can’t stay away from her, maybe you should apply to some other countries where they allow a dependent visa for students.

Good Luck.
